Antioxidans

BHT

Butylated hydroxytoluene, a derivative of phenol and toluol, can be found in Green Algaes and Cyanobacteria. In industry where large amounts are needed the synthesis  of BHT is done on an industrial scale. The compound serves most primarily as an antioxidant used for the production of colours, bio diesel, waxes, cosmetics, pharmaceuticals or packaging materials. In the EU it is authorized as a food additive (E 321).
